Thanks to the generosity of the Philpot family and our community, the FEELC Scholarship Program is available to assist qualified families with the cost of tuition at the Center. The FEELC Parent Board will accept applications and award scholarships to the families who show the most financial need among the pool of applicants. Because qualification is relative to the financial need of the pool of applicants in a given year, families that do not receive the Scholarship one year are encouraged to re-apply in succeeding years.
The FEELC scholarship is offered between September 1st through August 31st of each school year. In the past, FEELC has offered two (2) tuition assistance scholarships. These scholarships will provide two families with $50 per tuition draft to be used towards payment of their FEELC tuition ($1,300 for the year). Scholarship applications are reviewed and processed confidentially by the FEELC Parent Board, who will base their decision upon family income eligibility and families with the greatest financial need.
The FEELC Parent Board will use the following eligibility requirements and application process to award the scholarships.
To be eligible for a FEELC scholarship:
1. Family must first apply for tuition assistance from the NIH or EPA, and the State of North Carolina if you haven’t done so already.
Note: You remain eligible for the FEELC scholarship if you are not accepted into these programs or have not received a final decision on those applications at the time of this FEELC application submission.
2. You must not be currently accepting any tuition assistance from NIH, EPA, or the State of North Carolina.
3. The family must be enrolled at FEELC full-time or have accepted a full-time placement at FEELC for the school year.
Applicants must complete and submit the attached form and required documents to the FEELC Director by the specified due date. Incomplete scholarship applications or those submitted after the deadline will not be considered.
The Parent Board will notify all applicants of their decision in two weeks.
Applicants who are approved for scholarships will receive a FEELC Scholarship Agreement form outlining the expectations for tuition payment. The Scholarship Agreement form must be signed and returned to the FEELC Director by August 31st in order to indicate understanding and acceptance of the terms as stated.
You will be charged a bi-weekly tuition rate that is reduced by the Scholarship amount (i.e., your biweekly rate will be decreased by $50).
First Environments Early Learning Center admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin to all the

About the FEELC Scholarship Fund
In 2010, First Environments Early Learning Center (FEELC) received a large donation from the Philpot family to start a scholarship fund. In the following years, many families have donated their tuition deposits towards the scholarship fund when leaving FEELC, and proceeds from past fundraising events have also contributed to the scholarship fund as well.
